Mudumalai wild life Sanctuary is situated at an elevation of 1000 metres and extending over an area of 321 sq.mts lies this sanctuary between Kerala and Karnataka states. This is one of India's best sanctuaries. Nature has been lavish in providing this sanctuary with thickly wooded hills, plateaus, deep valleys, waterfalls, rivers, marshes and streams. The varied flora and topography meet the ecological requirements of several species inhabitating the sanctuary and give the visitors a sense of satisfaction.

For a state with a coastline of 1,000 km, Tamil Nadu offers a surprising variety of activities to keep your feet, and definitely those of the elephant you’re riding on, firming on the ground. On the hunt for adventure, the first stop in this state is the Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary, the first in south India. Here, go on an elephant safari and travel across terrain that ranges from Hills to valleys and forests, and from watercourses to swamps to catch a glimpse of hyenas, jackals, elephants, sloth bears and tigers. Not too far away just 40 km from Ooty, is the Nilgiri Tahr Wildlife Sanctuary, a part of Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve, where the fish always bite and the trekking is free.
